Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani received, today Monday at the presidential palace in Nouakchott, a high-level delegation from the Sahrawi Arab Republic, headed by the President of the Sahrawi National Council, Mr. Hamma Salama.
A statement from the Mauritanian Presidency did not provide details about the content of the meeting that President Ghazouani held with the delegation of the occupied Western Sahara, which was attended by the Minister in charge of the Office of the President of the Republic, Mr. Nani Ould Chrougha.
This reception comes days after the conclusion of the first round of the Madrid talks between the Kingdom of Morocco, which occupies Western Sahara, and the Polisario Front, the official representative of the Sahrawi people, which are sponsored by the United States and in which Mauritania and Algeria participate as two observer states.
Arab and Italian media outlets have spoken about a new anticipated round in Washington in the coming days.
